Everyday Places and Everyday Spaces

New Painting
New Painting

New painting just uploaded to my Portfolio.  I really enjoyed doing this one as I love painting fast and loose working my way into more suggested detail.  Never too much detail as I want the viewer to be able to insert themselves into the scene and use their own memories and experiences to connect to the painting.

This is an 8x8 study of a small outbuilding along a local road in Silver Spring, PA. The juxtaposition of the small building set into this small grove of pine trees caught my eye. It came across as a hidden, almost forgotten, corner where the everyday driver passing by would not look twice at it. I love old structures like barns, sheds or any structure that have some history buried within it but may not be very obvious to the average person.  It was obvious in this scene that this small building and this grove of trees have been around for some time.  Both just sit there in this little group one leaning into the other silently observing time and people as it all passes by.
