Entries for local Juried Show

For the last three years, I have entered the York Art Association annual juried show.  It is a national show not limited to YAA members but I think it is mostly regional artists that submit work.  Let's face it, it gets pretty costly for any artist to enter a show beyond the range of driving.  Shipping smaller pieces may not be too costly but when the pieces start getting larger, I would think it can get quite costly on top of the entry fees.  What I like about juried shows is that any work can be submitted whether you are a starting hobbiest artist or a full time professional artist. All of the submitted work is reviewed as a whole and then specific pieces selected to put into the show.  For this show, I am not quite sure how many submissions are received but I think it may be around 140 artists.  Again, I am not sure of the exact amount but I do know that each artist can submit up to 3 pieces which means there could be over 400 art pieces to jury of which maybe 70 pieces are juried in.  You cannot enter in work that was submitted previously and I think it must be work that was done in the last 3 years.  I am not sure how the jury checks on this but for me, it is about being motivated to generate new work so  I always submit new pieces.

The first year I entered, I think one piece was selected to be in the show.  Since I had just started to seriously learn to paint four years ago, I was pretty happy with that.  I don't think I won anything though but I do think I sold that painting which would have been the very first painting I ever sold.  The second year, two of the three pieces were juried in.  Again, felt good but I don't think I won anything  or sold anything.  So this year, my goal is to try to either get all three pieces selected or maybe better yet, sell another piece to help offset these entry and framing costs! I submitted the following three pieces so we shall see what happens.
