Every year when the family goes to the beach, I try to sneak off in the mornings to squeeze in a plein air painting or two in some other location inland from the beach.
This painting is from one of those plein air studies at a spot where there are tidewater marshes full of sawgrass and pockets of water. The sun had risen and the clouds were moving out and I was captivated by the cloud formations against and otherwise flat landscape.
